Bitcoin Beach Wallet Rebrands as “Blink”
The Bitcoin Beach Wallet has officially changed its name to “Blink” to better reflect its vision of becoming the best tool for bottom-up Bitcoin adoption. It was launched in 2020 as part of the Bitcoin Beach project’s goal of creating a circular economy for El Salvador’s El Zonte. Blink plans to make it easier for users to onboard and use bitcoin by enabling them to set their local currency in Q2 2023.
Features of Blink
In addition to allowing users to set their local currency, Blink also features several other tools that enable businesses to receive payments over Lightning and on-chain networks. These include LN address, a Lightning cash register, and a printable pay code. It also integrates Nostr, making it a go-to custodial wallet for tipping, testing or traveling. Lastly, it provides an in-app Bitcoin education system where users can earn sats while learning about Bitcoin’s basics.
Significance of Name Change
According The team behind Blink, the declared purpose of becoming the best tool for bottom-up Bitcoin adoption has attracted tens of thousands of active users and many requests for features that would increase utility and accessibility across countries and cultures. Therefore, they felt it necessary to change the name from its previous acronym which was seen as problematic. The new name is meant to represent speed and positivity with the aim of connecting people who never before could transmit value to each other.

With this rebranding, Blink hopes that its customer base will understand how significant this shift is towards achieving their ultimate mission: making it easier than ever before for people around world use bitcoin safely and securely without needing any prior knowledge or expertise on cryptocurrency technologies
